November 2008 Meeting Minutes by Bob Peters – Secretary

The November meeting of the HoAME club was brought to order on 11 NOV 08 at Lucky’s Brewpub by our president Shannon Eckhoff at 7:30.

New member A. Fellman was there with an ‘03 Honda 750 Shadow and Alan Cunningham broght his son Ivan (Yamaha SR500).

The treasurer’s report spoke of our modest cushion of reserve. The dues for 2009 will be due in good time around year-end (preferably at the December meeting (10DEC08). Tracy McCarty, the Rally Chair, spoke of developments regarding location and the lack of opportunity with the Kansas Speedway. We need a web savvy person to help with the rally preparations online. 10,000 sq feet of space in the right place would solve matters (the airport museum?).

Racing news: At the Barber Vintage in October, our own Norbert Nickel consolidated his national titles with a first, a second, a third and a DNS and rode in the airhead BMW race with his pre-war 500 and was fifth out nine in a field of larger displacement (650-1000cc) bikes. Kevin Brown took 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 2 thirds. Charles Miller started and finished in his first races.

There was no corner worker report. Heartland Park’s ambitious program will need corner workers and we need to revitalize our effort.

No old business and new business was Jim Van Eman’s heading the nominating committee for the 2009 slate of officers. He will report at the December meeting.

The Holiday party plans are almost set and will be announced at the December meeting.

The ride reports included Van Eman’s ride to Barber Vintage and beyond (2700 miles) on a 650 KLR including taking to the country across Missouri, Doug Fox on his annual ride to the Lake of the Pines Rally and his annual police report … this year’s entitled ANOTHER WIERD TRAFFIC STOP. And the Lantzs found a motorcycle repsort.

The Crasher Award for November went to Dennis Zeigler, with Tim Millis, for getting knocked down by a texting youth who ran into them at a stop light in Ozark, MO.
